.: BROSCH AND VARGAS BATTLE TO A DRAW
FEBRUARY 19, 2011 @ HERSHEY CENTRE, MISSISSAUGA

Excerpt from The Boxing Examiner

After ten sensational rounds of grueling, bruising action between Samuel Vargas and Tebor Brosch for the vacant NABA Canadian Welterweight title, one thing was clear; that these two warriors had just waged the Canadian Fight of the Year so far in 2011.

Both men poured everything into the fight from the opening bell, with Vargas (7-0-1, 1 KO) controlling the space with busy and effective jabs, stinging rights, and accurate left hook, and Brosch (6-3-5, 2 KOÕs) pressing the pace with his trademark will, and effective rights.

What was clearly confusing to those in attendance, however, was why after seemingly dominating most of the early and middle rounds, before convincingly winning the tenth, did Vargas have to settle for a disputed majority decision draw?

“This was a great fight, no doubt,” said promoter Adam Harris, of Hennessy Sports Canada.

“Both guys fought their hearts out. I thought Sammy did enough to win, and he showed heÕs in a different league than Tebor. But Sammy took some rounds off, and gave a super tough fighter like Brosch a chance to hustle his way back into the fight.”

“Regardless of who you thought won, thereÕs no doubt that you would want to see them do it again,Ó added Harris. “It was that good.”Read More From Feb 19 @ the Hershey Centre

.: TEBOR defeats FOUNTAIN TO WIN CPBC TITLE - JULY 10/10

In the Main Event of the lastest installment of United Promotions 2010 Professional Boxing series, “Mighty” Tebor Brosch took on Justin “The Matrix” Fountain in an all Ontario Welterweight battle for the vacant CPBC Canadian title!

Fountain started off well in the opening stanza, outboxing his Ontario counterpart, consistently landing the jab with the occasional right hand following it. The early assault started to cause some redness to form around Brosch’s face. Brosch seemed to turn things around late in the round, and while he was being outlanded by Fountain, his punches.....READ MORE

.: Brosch Defeats Abbiw 59-55, 59-55, 58-56 in Brampton, 15/05/10

In an all Ontario battle between Mississauga’s Tebor Brosch, the OBC Ontario Welterweight strap, and Frank Abbiw from Toronto, Brosch would see one of his eye close completely shut in front of one of Pro Boxing’s most notoriously “safety first” athletic commissions!

This fight was all Tebor in the early rounds as he pressured Abbiw behind a strong jab and ferocious hooks. Abbiw’s heart would definitely be tested early in this contest and he showed that he was more than willing to bang away with the Ontario champ. Though he was convincingly losing rounds on all of the judge’s scorecards, Frankie would take every opportunity to do a little dance for his fans who kept screaming his name every chance they got. Brosch had his own crowd cheering, letting his hands go in combinations and bringing on the loud chants of “Tebor”, "Tebor" that would drowned out Abbiw’s following!

The fight took a twist in round four when Brosch's left eye would swell completely shut. Even though he was clearly down on points, Abbiw’s right hand had taken a toll of Tebor’s eye enough that by round five, Ontario Boxing Commissioner Ken Hayashi was up close to the ring from his vantage point near a neutral corner, closely watching the doctor and the officials working with Brosch. Somehow, with one half of Tebor Brosch’s face looking like Rocky Balboa after his first fight with Apollo Creed, the fight was cleared to continue by the OAC.

After out slugging Tebor in round five, Abbiw went back to work firing away in round six. Brosch however, refused to lose, and with both men putting on a display of pure heart, the fight finished with fists flying right to the final bell!

Abbiw, still dancing, really should have spent more energy on what turned out to be a great fight for both, but a courageous victory for the OBC Champ, Tebor Brosch! Official scores read, 59-55 twice and 58-56 as Brosch improves his unbeaten streak to 6 straight fights!

.: Tebor Brosch - In Review

When you see Tebor Brosch in action, it's not hard to see that this kid has the heart of a lion. Born on Oct. 9, 1982 in Etobicoke, Ont., Brosch is like a throwback to the glory days of boxing, when a fighter was always ready to fight anywhere, at any time. Nicknamed "Mighty," Brosch is the kind of fighter that is never too far from the gym and although his ring record is not great, take my word for it, he can fight! Tebor has only fought a total of 12 fights in the pro ranks, but he fights like a seasoned veteran with three or four times that number of bouts to his credit.

Brosch got his start in amateur boxing at the age of 20 after spending most of his teenage years in martial arts. He won the Summerhays Tournament in Brantford, Ont., winning gold medals in 2003 and 2004. That tournament features a number of the best young amateurs around and Tebor proved that he could compete at that level. After fighting and winning a number of fights as an amateur, Brosch travelled to Winnipeg, Man. and made his pro debut on Jan. 26, 2007, taking on the undefeated Codey Hanna. Hanna was 3-0 at the time and he beat Brosch by a close decision. The two would meet again three months later and fight to a draw on April 18 at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. In Brosch's last fight of 2007, he scored a decision over Daryl Peron on Oct. 13 in a fight held in Brampton, Ont.

He'd start 2008 off by losing another close fight, this time losing to Phil Boudreault on Jan. 1 by decision at the Casino Rama. He'd then face Hanna for a third time on April 1 and battle to another draw against the Western Canadian fighter. Then on July 19, he'd lose a rematch against the undefeated Boudreault, again ending up on the wrong end of the decision. He'd end that year by fighting to another draw, this time fighting to a standstill against Justin Fountain on Sept. 27 in Brampton.

2009 would prove to be good year for the five-foot eight-inch Brosch as he'd get right on the winning side of things. On April 4, he'd score a knock down one minute into his fight against Ahmed Cheikho and shortly after would force referee Alain Villeneuve to stop the fight at 1:47 of the round when he sent the Montreal-based Cheikho to the canvas for a second time in their bout held at the Montreal Casino.

Tebor followed up the Cheikho win by scoring a hard-fought decision over Paul Watson on May 30 in Watson's hometown of Brantford. It would then be almost a full six months before Tebor would fight again, but he'd score an impressive win that night. On Nov. 21, Brosch took on the 10-1 Benyamine Besmi in Montreal. The Montreal-based Besmi was considered an upcoming prospect, but Tebor made sure not to leave the scoring in the hands of the Montreal judges. Early in the second round, Besmi was hurt badly by a Brosch left hook and then he was dropped by a follow up barrage of hard punches. Besmi beat the count but was saved any more punishment when referee Claude Cusson called a halt to the action at 1:58 of the round. (I was sitting at ringside and I was very impressed at the way Brosch finished off the Quebec fighter.) Tebor would then fight again three weeks after beating Besmi, taking on the current Canadian Light Welterweight champ, the undefeated 14-0 Manolis Plaitis of Montreal in a non-title bout scheduled for eight rounds. Throughout the fight it would be Brosch who pressed the action, while Plaitis moved and countered his hard hitting opponent. After an action packed fight, the bout was scored a draw. When a fighter travels to his opponents backyard and comes away with a draw, you know that he must have fought well.

In Tebor's only fight so far in 2010, he scored a decision over the smooth boxing Frank Abbiw on May 15 in a bout held in Brampton. At the present time, Brosch's record stands at five wins, three losses and four draws. When you consider the calibre of fighters that he's faced and battled to draws with, his record could easily be 9-3. And losing to the likes of Boudreault and Hanna will in no way hurt his career. Sometime in late 2010, I can see Brosch getting a shot at the Canadian title and laying claim to that crown.

At the present time, he is the Ontario Welterweight champ, having won that title with the win over Watson. Being trained by former World title challenger Jerome Coffee (a well respected trainer) is another thing that Brosch has going for him on top of his punching power, solid chin and heart. Add all those things up and it's easy to see a bright future for Tebor. Hopefully, fight fans may have a chance to see this exciting young fighter on a future card in the city of Moncton. Local fans would be impressed by the young fighter and no doubt would come away wanting to see more of him in action!
